Hey im 12 and got my period at your age. Wear a pad. Thats what im wearing now, Don't worry. I knew about this WAAAAY before you but we learn at diffrent ages. don't be afraid to ask your mother or another female. Even a dad or uncle is ok too. I don't get alot of cramps but I usually sleep for awhile. I have PMS thats pre menstral syndrome. That means im irritated and have symptoms earlier. Don't wear tampons at your age either. Stick with pads unless your parents say somthing. In school try to be the same as usual. You also might bloat. If period symptoms get in the way get some midol. (sp?) Also when wearing a pad try to stay away from swimming or somthing like that. For sleeping use overnight pads. If you don't have any use a normal pad and put a dark towel under you. Stay away from light clothing. If it gets stained it'll be seen like white on black. During your period wear red, dark blue, black etc. So if its stained its hard to notice. If you ever see a red stain on your pants then welcome to the woman race. Also if you have vaginal discharge (White creamy stuff) on that 'area' Then its close to coming. Be prepared. Trust me I found out I had mine because I wore a white nightgown to bed that night. I didn't know it was there until my mom literally yelled it to me infront of my brother. So if you get yours tell her. Don't make her have to shout it like its the fourth of July. You may also get some other hormones around this time like starting to like boys. You don't have to wonder 'What the heck? I like a boy!' like I did. But don't let it get outta hand. All a period is is when an egg dies inside you. It bleeds and thats what causes a period. It isn't just blood. It can be tiny little clots of it too. This is normal to have. A period should last from 3 to 10 days. You should only get it once a month. Light or heavy be prepared. For light periods get To-Go pads instead of using a big pad. For heavy ones get thick pads. for inbetween use normal. Try to relax during a period too. Don't overdo it either. If you do you get irritated and snap at people and don't mean to. I did this alot and got into trouble. Save yourself a lecture and don't overdo it and relax. Bring a small bag to school in your backpack or somthing and put in extra underwear and pads or tampons if thats what your parents want you to use. You'll thank yourself if you do that so you don't make it public cause somtimes people are busybodies and try to see what you're doing. Do this if you are embarrased about asking for a pad at school from your male/female teacher. But don't be they do this all the time.

When you get your period you're going through puberty. At this stage your secondary sexual characteristics start to develop. That is:

-Hair starts to grow under your arms and on you pubic area(that's the area close to your vagina)
-Breasts start to grow
-Hips broaden

Yes, acne is a result of puberty. Try an over-the-counter acne facial wash to keep the acne under control. You can't get rid of acne, but you can keep it under control.

You can use a pad at 11, you can even use a tampon if you want. But i suggest a pad first. Your period won't affect you in school. You can take painkillers for the cramps.

Here's my email if you want to talk some more about what's happening to you, i'm 16 so i can almost relate.

Hi,

It's okay to be worried.. I was totally worried before I got mine. Anyone can use pads! If you are at school during your period, change your pad before you go, and go once before lunch, once in lunch, and once about an hour between an hour and a half after lunch, so you can check to see if you need to change your pad. That's what I do! If you are at school and do not have a pad or tampon (I suggest using a pad your first time!!), then fold toilet paper and put it into your underwear.

I hope I helped!!

Every woman develops in different rates. It depends of their race, culture and sometimes even experiences they have gone through. The female body is designed to release an egg cell every month. It differs if you’re a 28 day cycle or a 32 day cycle. The cycle of menstruation is controlled by your hypothalamus producing hormones which stimulates glands to release estrogen and progesterone for the maturation and release of the ovarian follicle. You may experience a unilateral cramp on one side due to the rupture of the egg.

sure you will use a pad. Take a couple of pads with you when you go to school. You may get cramps as well. A day before my period, I get so emotional and restless, and I get the cramps when I am on my period.

When you get your period you don't miss school at all, just ask to go to the bathroom periodically or between classes. Just be prepared, and anyone can use a pad, those don't hurt. Ask your mom, sister or older cousins for advice, I'm sure they have plenty of it :)

You will be able to do anything that you want. Just don't skip school. bring a purse with you, or the nurse can have supplies for you to use. Everyone will eventually get there period. It is normal. There are other girls going through what you are going through. Just take it one step at a time.

keep a pad with you in case you start while your at school. and when u start u will know, trust me. just be prepared.

the intensity of cramps depends on different people, like me when i get them its not that bad but my friends almost cry when they get theirs so it depends on you.

change your pad every couple of hours or if its full.

personally i get very emotional and little things make me cry so be prepared for that in case you feel that.

you will notice other changes like the ones mentioned before about hair, acne, oh and body oder...

hope this was helpful :) good luck

You don't have to change a pad alot so just do when you take bathroom breaks. If you get some on your underwear or pants, ask to go to the nurse, you'll be ok.
