I have started writing a story set in the magical world created by J. K. Rowling. All the aspects of this world are just as J. K. Rowling created them, but I have created my own characters.
Can this be considered Fan Fiction? Will I be allowed to post it on FanFiction.net???

Oh yes, you definately can. I'm a hardcore fanfic adict, so I would know. All you have to do is make sure that you state in the summery that it's all OC's (Original Charcters). A lot of people like those, though I'm personally a Harry/Draco fan. Hehe. Anywho, good luck with your story and I hope you get a lot of reviews! And don't forget a disclaimer!

I'm currently working on chapter seven of my story for that site, right now. It's a Harry/Draco, of course and I've got all the characters of JK Rowling's but it's in a different world (the real world, actually). So it's an AU.

Yes, any story that features aspects of a world that another author created is fan fiction. Yes, FanFiction.net would definitely allow you to post it as long as you create a profile with them.

Yes, this is considered fan fiction. Just make sure you give JK Rowling credit for the backround you've borrowed from her. If you like HP and fan fiction, you should go to http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com/ and share your story with other Harry Potter Fan Fiction fans. Good luck with your story.

If you are using Rowling's settings and ideas, then it is still considered FanFiction, because technically, you are using someone else's work. FanFiction has a specific listing of guidelines which you might find helpful in deciding what to do with your story. There are many stories on the site which involve mainly original characters but are still fanfiction because they use ideas and settings taken directly from their respective source material.
