This topic makes me so mad and i just want to know why some of you think it is wrong OR right that gay marriage should be completley banned or unbanned.

I think it should be completley legilized because some of the things in the bible are out of date and CHRISTIANS dont even obey and go by some of the stuff. It use to be wrong from interacial couples to be together and have kids but now look at the world it is full of them?

What do you think?

The Bible doesn't go out of date. People have just gotten used to sinning, and think it's ok. But, Biblically, gay marriage is not ok, and that's why people get so upset about it.

The Bible doesn't tell us not to marry interracially. And, you're right, Christians are not perfect, but they try. They have to stand up for what they think is right. For what the Bible says is right. There are so many things that people do these days that are totally against the Bible's teachings. It's really sad.

But being gay is something that God says we should abstain from doing. Just like drinking or smoking. It is a choice we make. If we feel like we want to sin, we have to make a choice.

Marriage originated with the Bible, though, and for gay marriage to be allowed would be a huge slap in the face to God and the whole Christian community, because it clearly states that it's supposed to be a man and a woman.

ok, here's my two cents...
first of all, there is the law and there is the bible. if i recall correctly, they are not supposed to be allowed to influence each other. the bible may dictate what is acceptable to a religion, but it does not dictate what is or is not legal.
there are two kinds of marriages - religious and "civil". religious marriages are regulated by the belief system of the relevant religion. do i believe that gays or lesbians should be allowed to marry in church? that's up to each religion. i understand there is at least one religion, though i do not know what it is, that allows for same sex marriages. but the law should stay out of religious issues as much as possible.
civil marriages, on the other hand, should have nothing to do with religious values. anyone who wants to get married should be able to do so, and with whoever they chose, unless there is a valid reason against it. to point out some examples people keep bringing up, a person should not be allowed to marry a child because a child does not have a proper understanding of the contract they would be entering into and therefore cannot make that choice. a person should not be allowed to marry a goat because the goat has no understanding whatsoever of any of it, and could not offer consent in any way we could understand even if it did. however there is no reason why, two adults, whatever their genders, that are perfectly capable of understanding every implication of this contract, and are not encumbered by previous contracts of ther same kind (i.e. already married) should not be allowed to enter into it. it's unfair, discriminatory, and just plain wrong. the majority should not have the right to deprive some people of their right to pursue happiness.
i sometimes watch people quibble over whether or not the words "under god" should be taken out of the pledge of allegiance and ask myself why they don't see that those two little words are no threat to the separation of church and state. refusing to accept gay marriage on the basis of religious values, however, is. and therefore, it is wrong.

well first off the bible dont go out of date , some ppl may say that but if you are christian you have to live the bible to its entirety. and the bible says man and woman not woman and woman or man and man. Have you ever heard ppl say that the lord made adam and eve not adam and steve.? well and as far as the interacial couples that i dont believe is right either but just like gays and lesbians they do have their own perogative . I had a best friend that was gay . im a girl and he was a guy. but he even told me that if you are gay or lesbian you shouldnt show affection in public due to kids seeing that but as a straight person i dont think that a man and woman couple should do that either . it shows the public some respect.

Gay and lesbian marriages are an abomination to GOD. Life was not planned nor can real copulation exist with same sexed individuals. It is evident that you feel the Bible is out-dated. Obviously, you must like what the da Vinci Code represents. All young people who have never known the route of Jesus or the mission of God, will never understand what an abomination against God is. Therefore, let me suggest that you begin your research then you'll understand what I've said. You will be judged according to your beliefs and ignorance - not by me, but by GOD. If you want a better perspective in your life ahead, learn of God's love before judging another. Be careful of your outward display towards bi-racial people and/or products, as one day , you or someone in your family might marry someone out of your race, then you will have to accept their choice. Let me warn you... Do not judge, least you be judged! Even as you are. Look within your closet and tell me it is clean and undefiled. I bet it isn't.

Gay and lesbian marriage is an oxymoron.

The Bible says that with God there is no black or white, no Jew or Greek. But the same Bible says homosexuality is an abomination to God.
It is a sin. God says He doesn't change--ever. So He hasn't changed His mind about what is sin and what is not.

As far as whether Christians follow it or not: that doesn't make a bit of difference as to whether it is right or wrong. Neither does any person's opinion.

the thing is, marriage is a christian ritual that has been adopted by the USA

since the ritual is of christian roots, it must abide to the christian word.

i know it seems kind of unfair that that means homosexuals can't marry, but you can only blame the country for adopting this christian ritual.

i am catholic and i have no problems with homosexuals. other than having the belief they are morally wrong biblical, there isn't a thing wrong with homosexuals.

although, i find it wrong to marry a gay couple in a christian church with christian beliefs and is a christian ritual to begin with. its a total contradiction.

if there was another way, I'd be OK with it, but i say leave the church out.

The Bible is not out of date. Have you read the New Testament of the Bible? It's great! Try it. Christians are not perfect, but we are forgiven because we have asked God to forgive our sins so that we may go to Heaven when we die. Christians struggle every day in life just like everyone. But we have God's guidance to help us. We love everyone including gays, but we do not love sin. Marriage is for man and wife. God planned it that way.

Crock of ****! If you love someone an they love you back who gives a good god damn what sex they are. Its hard enough to find love and acceptance in a hetrosexual relationship. As for the bible thumpers they seem to be forgetting an itty bitty thing that when christ died on the cross for our (society as a whole's sins) sins that wiped out the mandates of the old testament. god is not selective in who he loves so who the hell are we to sit in judgement over anyone else. kinda rather like living in a glass house and letting those who think they have never committed a sin or done anything wrong go around chucking rocks. personally i think that people who are trying to ban it arent getting enough sex in their lives and have nothing better to do then pick on people they know nothing about.

Being able to openly gay is a good thing only for gays and lesbians. That's waht I think. What benefits straight people can get by accepting it? Its my honest opinion.....

Society is changing little by little. People cannot change in a click! New things makes resistances. If it is a bad thing, resistances will win. If it is a good thing, resistances will eventually lose. (Can you believe that people buying people 200 years ago?)

Like racial and ethnic issues, this gay issue may be going to be much less controversial in the future. But who knows?

Man + man or Woman + woman = no natural kids!

Marriage is suppose to be the institution of monogamy and procreation!

So you can attack Christians for divorce and cheating on their spouses, but marriage is best as one man and one woman!

It is best for children to have biological parents, so they can see their genetics played out!

The bible did not say interracial marriage was wrong, just different faiths! Jews were to marry Jews, but you can become a jew like the story of Ruth!
