Well, you gotta do what you want. But you also have to remember, if you get visible piercings, like the nose, some people might not hire you. Nobody want someone looking like a fishing lure talking to prospective clients. But if you want them, get them. And don't get your tounge done just to give better head, because it doesn't do anything.

The tongue does not hurt at all...well at least I didn't feel anything...the after effects are the worst part, where you can't really eat anything or talk. The nose, on the other hand, hurted a bit, the piercer said I had a tough nose and couldn't get the needle through, but eventually he did. Your eye waters on the side of the nostril you getting the piercing in. The healing is no problem though. Just wash it, keep it clean, and leave it alone and it will heal up perfectly. About the navel piercing, I can't help you there, I don't have that one done.....YET!...lol........Well think it through, is all I can say. Or get all of them done...they are just piercings you can take them out whenever you want if you don't like them. Other than that I like how the nose ring looks and the tongue is something different, but COOL....I did it because I wanted too, not because I wanted to follow the trend or because my friend did it....do it because you really want it. Don't try to fit in with the crowd. Be yourself and do what YOU want, how you WANT it!!!! Hope this helps...Take care

I have my nose and tongue pierced. The nose did hurt, but only for a few seconds. The actual tongue piercing surprisingly did hurt, which everyone told me it wouldn't, and the week following the piercing hurt so bad. I was almost in tears when i tried to eat anything, but after that i didn't even know it was there. It really is kind of a pointless piercing. I could do w/ out it. Belly button rings look good if you don't have a belly, ya know? I think it is a very cute piercing, and so is the nose! Hope this helped!

That website is written from the viewpoint of some very prejudiced, patronising adult who doesn't have a clue about piercings. The worst danger from a tongue piercing is the tooth damage - that bit is true. What it doesn't say however is it's very easy to minimise the risks to your teeth by wearing bars which fit properly and have plastic balls, and by not playing with your bar. Hundreds of thousands of people wear tongue bars with no problems whatsoever. The tongue is one of the least likely piercings to get infected. The mouth is not a dirty place bacteria wise like the website suggests - on the contrary, saliva and the environment inside your mouth makes it very difficult for the bacteria that causes infection to live. Your nose harbours a lot more dirt and bacteria, and is much more likely to be touched during the course of the day, transferring the dirt from your hands on to your piercing. I've never heard of anyone inhaling their tongue bar or ball. Swallowing it is a possibility but again, this only happens if you play with it a lot, loosening the balls, or if you continue to wear a bar with damaged threads instead of replacing it straight away. As long as you check your bar every once in a while to make sure the balls are on tightly, you'll have no problems. Even if a nerve is damaged in the piercing process (highly unlikely) your tongue will feel strange for a day or two, while the nerve grows and re-routes itself, at which point normal sensation is restored. The veins underneath the tongue are very clearly visible - have a look in the mirror. Those are the only ones you need to worry about hitting, and it's pretty easy to miss them given how big they are. There's no recorded case of anyone dying because of a tongue piercing gone wrong. I could pull you up a thousand pictures of piercings gone wrong for both places, and for any other piercing you might like to think of. It's easy for people to moan when things go wrong - what you don't usually get is the story of why it went wrong - people don't like to admit that it was their own stupidity that led to this usually. You also don't usually hear from the millions with perfectly healthy, trouble-free piercings, because there's nothing interesting about those...

First, I would take the time to stop and ask yourself, "Is this really going to make me cooler?" Do you think it will make you more attractive? Are you trying to attract a certain bad boy? Or is it about being different-- just like everyone else. Yes, that was supposed to be an oxymoron. Think about it.

Anyway, those are the positives to getting piercings-- if you can buy into them. But think about how other people would see you with strange piercings. Will they take you seriously? Don't you want to be taken seriously as an adult?

Also, some guys, like myself, don't really find that appealing. Personally, it's a turn off. So, you'd be excluding yourself from a lot of guys out there who probably would have liked you just the way you are.

That leads me to another point. Maybe someone hasn't told you recently, but you're beautiful. Women are naturally beautiful and they don't need pieces of metal hanging off any part of their body. You're only messing with perfection. Don't vandalize yourself.

Also, consider the pain, swelling, and the possibility of infections. I've seen a girl get an ear lobe infection and that was not pretty. Nasty. She needed surgery. Scary.

So, is your desire to fit in and be cool so bad that you have to pierce something? Are you doing it for yourself or maybe for someone else? Are you prepared for the consequences? Things to think about. That's my honest take. Best Answer? ;)

Pantera said it best in the song "Great Southern Trendkill"

"Peirce another hole, if hell was in you'd sell you're soul"

It's something that trendies and followers do. Nobody sits around and says hey bro dig it, I'm gonna chuk a piece of metal in my tongue. He does it because his freind did it, or because he saw it on TV, or he thinks it looks cool. There used to be this whole myth about how oral sex was better with someone who had a tongue ring but I've never had any difficulties in that area and I've been on the recieivng end of someone with a tongue ring and it wasn't all that and a bag of chips.

Do what you want to do, but make sure you do it for yourself and not for those around you.

Tongue rings have never appealed to me. Like a few others said the people that have them play with them all the time and it's just gross. Who wants to talk to someone who's clanking stuff around in their mouth the whole time. And the nose rings look okay when they're in, but you have to remember you're not going to keep it in for the rest of your life, and when alot of people take theirs out and the hole starts to close up the scar looks like a permanent pimple. Especially if you have darker skin. Not good stuff.

I know people who have both. Tongue piercing makes you talk funny and many people have the annoying habit of "playing" with it all the time. Nose ring, most of the people I know let it grow back because getting a cold with one is very messy. But, do what you want, it's your body, baby.

I think the nose rings look more classy on a woman than the tongue rings. If I were you, I would only get the nose ring.
