It's an urban city and is heavily populated because all the tribes in Nigeria are all represented there.....depending on where you visit...some areas are well organised while some others crazy....You will definitely need someone to take you round if you are visiting because there might not be current maps and the transport system is a little bit complicated and very difficult to understand...It is the location of the head offices of majority of big companies in Nigeria and most of the embassies have their liason offices...Lagos is not all about scam....it is a business hubb...most big corporate organisations in the world have offices there name them...shell, mobil, elf/totalfina, Agip etc....so plan very well before visiting...i wish all the best

I was born there. Some parts are beautiful (Victoria Island) and some parts are not as beautiful. It depends on where you go. The city is usually very crowded and busy (especially at night).
It bugs me when people associate Lagos with 419 scams. The percentage of Lagosians that are scammers is very little. Lagos is not all about 419 scams. That's just as unfair as saying that America is all about credit card fraud. Spotting a scammer is not as difficult as people make it seem. The basic rule is; "If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is."

I will agree with what a few people lagos has its beauty and its ugly you can compare it to New York. My family used to have a apartment there. I like the city life so at the end of the day me and my future wife will probably buy real estate there. A good peice of advice do not fall for 419 scams. I feel people should not hate on Nigerians because they learned the 419 scams and perfected.

Yes, I've been to Lagos. I was there about 2 months ago. It's a wild, but exciting city to be in. It is very over populated with much traffic and pollution. It is very much the business hub of Nigeria, and used to be the capital. It can be an exciting place, but it can also be exhausting because of the heat and the difficulty and time it takes to travel throughout the city. Be sure you have a Nigerian you can trust with you who knows the city and how to navigate it.
