Because everything else sucks. No, really, think about the options presented to a young person these days. Go play outside, where youre parents, teachers, etc. have convinced you child molestors lurk behind every bush. Get involved in a sport, where you can experience the joys of parents living vicariously (if not your own, then you still have to deal with the other kids over-competitive soccer-mom). Play inside, and get in trouble when you inevitably break something, or almost break something, or make a mess, or just start to get on mom's nerves. So you pretty much are left with TV by elimination. Now you can watch cartoons, which are usually creative and funny, or you can watch "educational" programs were some idiot dressed like a jackass patronizes and talk down to you for twenty minutes about topics you could care less about. I'll take Bugs Bunny, please.

I'm 24 and I still watch cartoon.
Kids like because 1) it's fun 2) it's simple 3) it's not anything adult.
Cartoon still gives that room for imagination, doing the humanly impossible things sometimes. And things like irritating your siblings. (e.g Dexter's Lab - DeeDee just cant stop irritating Dex. Or rather, Dex cant stand her anyhows)
Anyone likes Pound Puppies? :D

Kids like cartoons because cartoons are to kids like what movies/TV series are to adults. They're made just so that kids will like them. Also in society today all kids watch tv and cartoons are the easiest for them to understand so that's another reson whay they might like them.

i am going to answer this by drawing from my own experience in childhood. as a kid, i watched innumerable cartoons , cassettes brought to me by my father ( at that time there were no cartoons on dvd or cd's as we have them today ).what i wanted was this magical world full of frustrated ducks( donald duck )and his friends( mickey ,minnie ,goofy,not-so-friendly chipmunks),wabbits( bugs bunny ) and his looney toons friends, superman,batman,spiderman,he-man, bozo the clown, a world full of fairies , beautiful princess , handsome princes( classics like snow white, peter pan , alladin, anastasia;though recent etc.).this is the world most children want to be in , the fantasy world as we adults describe it( i turned an adult last december ).i have always thought kids should be encouraged in this regard , though i am not sure about excessive television watching having its impact on studies, related realistic mental development in today's highly competetive world plus sports and outdoor activities. though the aforementioned activities ( like studies etc. , etc ) are the primary aim of kids as students , i am of the opinion that cartoons too have their hand in the true moral and intellectual development of children today.i myself have gained much knowledge from cartoons , beautiful places , mythological beings , i have come to know about these watching cartoons.childhood is an experience ; let overburdened kids of today have that experience in a wonderful way, full of magic, beautiful places and hope, the greatest of all.
