Our jobs are going overseas, our natural resources are going overseas and made in to products that are then sent back and sold to Americans. Many of these countries sell us stuff that their own people can't afford to buy, but their people are hired at low wages to make the stuff - because corporations have convinced the world that it is necessary to compete in a global economy - but in fact it is just to put more money in their own pockets at the expense of the American workers standard of living.

Would we be better off if we closed our borders to foreign products and forced American companies to use American workers?

NO, not only for our own good but other nations economies would suffer if the USA isolated itself as well. Those low wages may be low to you, but overseas there often times quite a bit above average. There are countless benefits in the short and long term with participating in a global economy, to isolate a country would be incredibly short sided and naive.

The single line answer to your ques. is that "NO ONE IN THIS WORLD IS PERFECT". One need some support to develop himself . Support doesn't mean only financially it is also mentally, physiologically. No doubt U.S is well build enough but you yourself can think of negatives of closing the borders This is not only way to develop country becoz you need an alley on your side at worst phase . Closing border to outsider can lead to economic drift to the negative side. even you have the Non-Americans in all field either its TECH. , DEFENSE , STOCK MARKETS, .
IMPORTANT THING IS THAT
IF EVERY ONE THINKS OF HIMSELF then WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS WORLD.

No it would eat up all of the america's natural reasources. The US doesnt ship out natural reasources. that's why the government continues to buy oil from the middle east even though there is oil in alsaka. they want to use up other countries' reasources. sooner or later they won't have enough reasources to support them and will have to buy from the US. that puts the US ontop of the monopoly.
