There are two ways to configure your picture:
Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Preferences." Select the "Display Image" category and click the "Change Default" button.
Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "My Display Image."
Select the "Share my picture" option and click the "Select a Picture" graphic.
Select a picture or use one of your own by clicking the "Browse" button. With this button you can browse your hard drive for a picture. The picture must be one of the following graphic types: .bmp, .jpeg, .png, or .gif.
Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.
Note: You can change your picture by clicking the "Change" button to the right of your picture.
I hope this helps.

There's a secret in my paragraph about cool avatars if you keep reading:
Here is a very good procedure to follow in order to get your own picture up here for all to see:
well, actually, there are 2 things you can do.
you can either A) put your own picture up, or B) put a cute little avatar up. I have instructions here for both!
If you don't have one, you need a 360 account for your own picture...
-- create your yahoo 360 account here: http://360.yahoo.com
--upload a couple of pictures to your 360 page
--it will ONLY accept Jpeg format!!
--from the top of your 360 page, click "my page"
--click "edit personal photos" (left side)
--click the "set as srimary" button next to the pic you want shown & click "save" (remember--JPEG format only!)
--go to your "my q & a" page on yahoo answers
--click "edit my info"
--now, click the middle bubble that says "use my 360 picture"
OR_____________________
here's how to change your avatar:
--click mail
--click the avatar picture twice
--from here, you have a number of different things you can do.
A LITTLE SECRET:
if you look under places like halloween, and stuff under holidays, you can find pink hair, wings, unicrons, and so much more! so don't just skim the top...really look at the different tabs & sections!!
Hope I've helped, good luck!!!

You could give your avatar no background, then screen capture it (on a pc, press these keys at the same time: Ctrl, Alt and Print screen) then paste it into a Photo Editing program (like Photoshop). You can then seperate out the background with the wand tool and put a different one in. Of course it won't work as an avatar, but it will be your avatar on a diff back that you can save as .jpg or .gif
Peace!

at the same time as I trust somebody else that it became impolite to digital mail you and it became none of their organisation. even if, you've now made it each body's organisation through asking the question. would were more effective positive to save quiet. I copied the image and enlarged it. it isn't very flattering and doubtless does no longer do you justice. it truly is an instantly ahead answer for your question. i won't be able to lie for 10 factors.

you need a 360 page. Its sort of like a myspace blog thing. It means you can put a real picture there. In 'Edit my info', click 'Get my Yahoo! 360 account now!'
good luck! xx
