psychics come in different 'shapes and colours'. Only the ones that can see the future, called clairvoyant, have a chance of seeing how an event designed to be random will occur before hand. Of these clairvoyants, the majority receive their extrasensory information from 1 of 2 places:
1) The dead - spirits of people crossed over sometimes linger in confusion while connected to the universe's power and knowledge, and pass on messages to psychic mediums relating to the future.
2) Visions - dreams or flashes that travel through the space time continuum in the form of thought energy can be picked up by psychic visionarys, and occasionally these visions relate to events not yet occured.
Rarely do either of these things relate to monetary concern, but rather to feeling, moral right and wrong, conscience, and balancing energy and working toward harmony. The flow of money around the world does not define peace and happiness in the individual or the collective, so the spirit realm don't bother with it.
Psychicswork because they love to. It provides an excellent sense of purpose and helping people with really big emotional problems is very rewarding for the spirit of the psychic, as well as the money factor. Many psychics have more money than they will ever need in this life, but they continue to work, and many support other causes simultaneously.

Although some people may or may not have psychic powers, the simple answer is that they probably make more money on a psychic hotline.

Now even though no one thinks anyone with psychic powers has picked the winning lottery numbers, how do we know if someone hasn't? Not all people with presumed psychic powers run hotlines. Since they could be considered "weird", maybe they're keeping their secret.

After all, why did the winners pick those particular numbers? huh? huh?

I think most of the psychic venues we see are exploitative, and obviously fake.. but that does not mean that everything has an explanation. There have been a number of large universities involved in the testing of physic phenomenon for many years, and the one thing that is a constant in their test results, is that some people consistently defy the law of averages, that they have some ability beyond explanation by current scientific study.
Point being, be skeptical, but not close minded..

James Randi, also known as the magician "The Amazing Randi" has a million dollar reward offered to any "psychic" who can prove that he/she has "paranormal" abilities. No one has ever claimed the money. Randi has exposed many phoneys, the most famous being Uri Geller who had is moment of fame because he could alledgedly bend forks just using his brain power. Randi showed how he did it and Geller quickly became a has been.
