Q: How accurate is the test?
A: In studies of the FIRST RESPONSE® Pregnancy Test with urine samples representative of both pregnant and non-pregnant subjects, laboratory technicians obtained the correct expected result in more than 99%** of the samples, and consumers obtained the correct expected result in 98.4% of the samples.

* 99% accurate at detecting the pregnancy hormone. However, some pregnant women may not have detectable amounts of pregnancy hormone in their urine on the first day of the missed period or may have miscalculated the first day of their period.

Maybe you are just stressed out....This happened to me this month to. I was thinking oh god i am pregnant cause i was 2 days late but i finally started. I had taken a pregnancy test (wal-mart brand) and it was negative...When i seen that i knew i wasn't pregnant even though i was late cause it would have shown up cause it had time if i was to be pregnant.

Good luck

I took the first response pregnancy test the day after I missed my period and it was negative I waited 2 weeks and took an ept and It came up positive.. It doesn't mean that the test doesn't work and the first response can pick up lower levels of hcg but that all depends on your body some ppl have very very low levels of hcg for a while... It could very well be that you aren't pregnant but just wait a few weeks and test again! My cousin showed up negative with all different test until she was 10 weeks pregnant and that includes the blood work so you never really know.. good luck though

I'm a little confused. Did you get a negative, then a positive, than another negative? Typically you need to wait until after you have missed your period to get an accurate reading on a pregnancy test. If you have gotten different reponses, you may want to contact your doctor for a blood test for an accurate response. If you are nervous to do that, I would suggest taking another test in a day or two, allow yourself a chance to relax and see what happens!

Most of the OTC, (over-the-counter), tests available at grocery or drug stores are highly accurate. They're the same urine tests that your doctors office will use.

But if you are newly pregnant, you may just have very low levels of the hormone that they test for. I had a friend who was 5 months pregnant who would test negative on any urine tests because her hormones were all whacky.

If you chose to take the test again, give it a week. In that time you may start your period.

Tests vary with the perons, in my opinion, Frist Response did NOT work for me AT ALL, I was 5 wks pregnant and it was still barely readable....EPT gave me results the day before i missed my period...but I'm sure some people have arguments the other way...get a 3pk of both and stash them in your closet

Yes actually they say that one and EPT are the best ones. However I took a dollar store pregnancy test and it came up positive....Im 38 weeks pregnant! lol!

Go to http://www.peeonastick.com/hpts.html and it will tell you how sensitive each test is, and show pictures of how they look when they are positive. My personal experience with First Response is that they are VERY light and difficult to see the results of. The walmart brand equate tests are very accurate and much clearer on the results. I was 15, 16, and 17 DPO and my positive lines were pretty light. I uploaded the photo for you to see, the middle one I had a blood test taken and my HCG level was 141, MUCH higher than what it takes for almost any test to have stong dark lines. Here is the link: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b311/SumnerRain/FRER.jpg The lines are about 2x-3x darker in the picture because they sat for up to three days. I hope the next test tells you what you want it to!

*DPO - Days past ovulation
*HPT - Home Pregnancy Test
*FRER - First response early result
*hCG - human chorionic gonadotropin - Pregnancy hormone
*Beta - Blood test measuring how much HCG is present, not just pregnant/not pregnant
*mIU/ml - milli-international units per millimeter - the measurement hCG is measured in

* At 14 DPO, the average HCG level is 48 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 17-119 mIU/ml.
* At 15 DPO, the average HCG level is 59 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 17-147 mIU/ml.
* At 16 DPO, the average HCG level is 95 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 33-223 mIU/ml.
* At 17 DPO, the average HCG level is 132 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 17-429 mIU/ml.
* At 18 DPO, the average HCG level is 292 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 70-758 mIU/ml.
* At 19 DPO, the average HCG level is 303 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 111-514 mIU/ml.
* At 20 DPO, the average HCG level is 522 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 135-1690 mIU/ml.
* At 21 DPO, the average HCG level is 1061 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 324-4130 mIU/ml.
* At 22 DPO, the average HCG level is 1287 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 185-3279 mIU/ml.
* At 23 DPO, the average HCG level is 2034 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 506-4660 mIU/ml.
* At 24 DPO, the average HCG level is 2637 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 540-10,000 mIU/ml.

HCG tipically doubles every 48-72 hours, so wait 2-3 days in between testing for better test results. If a few more weeks go by, you may want to get a blood test.
