Depending on your location, there are a variety of different summer jobs.

In my area, many people work in retail.. although the pay isn't the greatest. Others opt for something like golf course maintenance, (collecting golf balls and such... joy!)

There are other options that are sometimes available for summer jobs.. Maid services tend to pay quite well.. Some food service jobs pay relatively well, and are mostly quite easy, which is a great thing for summer!

Depending on your age, and education, (If you are currently enrolled in college courses, etc.) there can be wonderful opportunities based on your course of study. I would recommend speaking to your school system, (again, if you are in college) for tips and possibly places to interview.

I have heard through the grapevine that cosmetic counters and jewelery counters in major department stores are a great source of income when commission-based. Although this will not guarantee a certain amount of cashflow.. it can sometimes be worth it.

Best of luck in your search!

First of all I am NOT a teacher. In NJ teachers are contracted to work 10 months a year for an annual salary. The have the option to get paid their salary during the 10 months they work or can get lower pay every month and get paid a full 12 months. The average teacher's salary in NJ is about $56,000 so they aren't making 6 figures and require a four year College Degree for the job. They work about 186 days per year. When I worked for corporate America I worked 215 days and made a lot more money for only working a few more days. Teachers in NJ are being screwed by the state. They are required to contribute several thousands of dollars by law to their pension, yet the state doesn't pay their required contribution and our stupid Governor says the state can't afford to make pension payments, yet they don't contribute and steal money from the teacher's contribution to fund other departments.

cleaning houses. run an ad in local small paper. go bid the job. you can make 75.00 to 100. per house if you do a good job. You can really get customers fast and its great money. If you need to go to school you can still do the jobs on the weekends or afternoons. Just dont take on too many.

I live in Idaho and the forest service is always in need of good help in various capacities. Construction flaggers also do pretty well. Waiting tables at a nice restaurant is another option.
