Personally, I think it was a song written by a drug dealer who lived in a corn field. He was a crack dealer, and would sing that song to his clients so they remembered that he lived in a cornfield.

Jimmy refers to Jimaximus a relative of Maximus the second who was the brother of Agustus Caesar.
"Cracking corn" is a saying derived from "cracking corn over an open flame". It was shortened through out the years. Jimaximus was "cracking corn over an open flame" before he died
"Nobody Cared" because Jimaximus was a tax collector there fore making him an a$$ hole.
they made a song about him because the roman citizens were stupid a$$es.

It's not that nobdy cared, only the person singing the song didn't care, and the only reason he didn't care was because the master had gone away.
Jimmy's not allowed to crack corn most of the time but he's cracking it now because he's not supposed to and he can get away with it since the master's gone.
