Sinead O'Connor is certainly up there, but as she's a bit of a stroppy cow, I'm not inclined to be too keen to buy her CDs. I think Mary Coughlan is great, and Mary Black and Frances Black are also great. Addition: I forgot about Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries, yes she is very good. I've seen her doing her grocery shopping in the big new Dunnes Stores on the Childers Road in Limerick.

Christina Aguilera definitely has a good voice, I don't know why she goes so "dirrty" much of the time; but that aside, she's got talent that girl.
Mariah Carey's music bores me for the most part, but she definitely can sing.
A lot of the more talented, original female singers can't sing as well as the divas, but like I said they have more original talent. Singers like Jewel, Alanis Morissette come to mind.

Tina Turner. She paved her own career after years of physical and emotional abuse by Ike, but she wouldn't let that defeat her. Instead of living the life of a victim she came back stronger and better than ever and she's still rocking in her sixties with as much energy as a 18 year old...gotta love her.
