There were no buildings around, or trees for some kind of light to be in, no sound, like a plane or helicopter, no people living there, it came straight down from above us, and shone in a circle around the car, we all saw it, not just me. it lit up the hood and trunk, and all around the car, a very bright, white light. it just came on, and then went off,. about 5 seconds later. Were had been joking around just before that, saying things like "let us now recieve". so I guess we did, This happened in 1977, on the Oregon coast. I heard later that there were a lot of U.f.o. sightings in that area in the late 70's.

Ball lightning? Was it anything like this:

Me and a friend saw something like this back in February. My friend was staring directly out the window, thinking about Asian chicks, when it popped out of the clouds right in front of his eyes. It was a bright ball, had whispy filaments all over it, and when it "popped" it went out with a big double-strobe-flash. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and when I turned to focus on it, it flashed out and filled the car with a bright, blue light. It was strong enough to make my friend go "AaaAarGghhH!"

If you want to get crazy with it, I think this is what our ancient ancestors meant when they said the stars would fall from the Heavens. Imagine a whole lot of ball lightning raining down on your city. That'd be some **** to see right there. Read some of my questions and best answers.

It depends. Do you remember what time it was when you saw it? If you lost like 2 hours after you saw it you might have seen, or been abducted by, an UFO.

If not, it could have been a plane, low flying helicopter, a car with their high beams from a distence, or maybe you where seeing things after all.

It was the light bar of the cop car that pulled you over for swerving. You being under the influence didn't realise it was more than a few seconds, and you can't seem to recall the entire incident in question.

Maybe a joker who aimed a laser beam on your car.
A laser reaches very far. Then the source seems invisible.
