Rory Emerald did not appear in “Frenzy” in 1972. The confusion lies in the fact that he did appear as a necktie serial killer in an episode of “Streets of San Francisco” that same year.

That episode, which aired December 4, 1972 was probably the most beloved and most remembered of any single segment of the long running police show. Some of the classic lines muttered by veteran actor Karl Malden in that episode included “That ties him into the murder” when they found a necktie in Emerald’s apartment, and “She really stuck her neck out on a limb” followed by a sardonic laugh after finding one of the victims, hanging from a tree limb with a necktie wrapped around her neck. His cohort, played by relative newcomer Michael Douglas also got into the act with some immortal lines as “Sorry, you can’t be served without a tie” while smashing Emerald’s face with a tennis racket and “A tie is like kissing your sister” while pistol whipping him.

Emerald, who played the vicious necktie serial killer, was applauded loudly for his fine performance, which was all the more astounding as he played the role as a mime.

Sorry, I think this Rory Emerald obsession of yours has overplayed itself. I don't want to be rude, but GET A LIFE!
