Art is a very subjective form of expression.
The greatness of a work of art lies in the eyes and circumstances of the beholder.
If you would consider the most expensive work of art as the greatest then you would have a tangible form though the price paid is subjective as the person who bought it would have spent as much based on personal preference. Cezanne's "Le Montagne St.Victoire," is to have been bought at over $ 80 million at an auction.

Many will say "The Last Supper" because of this importance to religion or the Mona Lisa but i like "The Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:VanGogh-starry_night.jpg It's pretty and kinda reminds me of a Tim Burton movie.

The one I own.
Which was painted by someone with the last name Brooks. It is of a violin, music sheets, pencil upside down in a glass, and a book.
I think it's called "Still with music sheets"
or 'Violin with music sheets"
I can't remember which it is. I've had this piece for awhile now.
My favorite artist would have to be Thomas Kincaid or Rembrandt

I've always loved Rembrandt, especially the Jewish Bride. I fell in love with the painting when I saw it at Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam last summer.
