I'd say lawn mower inventors, but that would b e wrong.
Grasses,,, of any breed grow naturally, Check a field sometime. The act of cultivating, mowing, may have come from ancient farmers?
I agree with one answer that a lawn unused is wasted space and it's pretty obvious we use lawns as curb appeal, not for inert reasons.
I also enjoyed the answer Triumph gave,,,smiles.

Not me...land is too valuable to waste it on a lawn that isn't used by anyone. My front yard is walled in with a great looking fence, tons of plants, has decks on 2 levels, has a 4000 gallon Koi pond with water falls, tons of tropical plants...it is a private micro world that is a delight. The back yard is all swimming pool, spa, deck and patio cover. with lots of plants everywhere. Sort of like living in a resort.

The first guy who had weeds thought it looked cool if it was greener. Thus, the worlds allergies were born. The end, go to sleep.
