yes, you spelled it right and for me it didnt hurt after i got an epidural. I laid in bed pickin up my legs with my hands and saying "I can't feel my legs" lol Just remember, there are times when the epidural isnt available or it won't take. Expect the unexpected.

I remembered I got the instant relief after getting a shot of epidural. It was true that I could really feel numbness, and could sleep well while waiting for further expansion of the cervix.
However, I remembered I encountered hot sensation at my lower back and some breaking pain at my lower pelvic area.
I asked the nurse why I felt that, as I was on epidural.
She told me that epidural may relieve the pain due to the contractions but there may be some parts of the body which epidural could not reach. She also explained to me that the breaking pain at the lower pelvic area would mean that the baby was pushing to come out from the womb.
Though I hated that hot sensation and some pains, I could still say that epidural really helps, especially if you will be going through a long labour process.

giving birth with an epidural is relatively painless, but 9 times out of 10 women get what is called a spinal headache. it happens when the spinal fluid is let out. It hurts so bad. all you can do is lay flat on your back.. i had an epidural with my first child and i was flat on my back for a week, my mom had to help with the baby. it takes a while for the spinal fluid to build back up. I still get very bad headaches, and where they put the epidural hurts every once in a while..if you do have an epidural, don't take tylenol 3 with codeine. the doctors say that it is ok, but the pharmacist i talked to said that it could cause the baby harm, and plus she was sleeping for 6 hours at a time and she had a hard time eating because she got so upset.. in my opinion it isnt worth all the pain that comes with it.. labor and delivery hurts without an epidural, but it is over as soon as the baby is out.

Anything worth having is gonna hurt alittle . I have had 3 kids 2 with drugs and 1 naturally and well the epidural defiantly helps with the pain during contractions but when a giant 37 cm head is born ... well the just don't make drugs to cover that.

No, it didn't for me at least. They kept asking me if I felt like I had to poop, because that's how they know if the baby's pushing his way out, I was so numb, I couldn't feel anything at all, until I started pushing, but even then I didn't feel any pain, just a lot of pressure.

If you wait too long before getting the epidural they will tell you that it's too late and won't give it to you.

with my first baby i still felt a lot of pain, maybe not so much in the vaginal area but the contractions still felt really strong to me. anyway the first is usually the most difficult and painful. I had another epidural with my 2nd and i barely felt any pain. i felt like i could have done it again right after she was born. Just don't expect it to be painless. the epidural will help but everyone's body reacts differently.

Not too much. I had toxemia, so it was very important to regulate my blood pressure for my son's safety. More pain= higher BP, so I got the epidural, and was able to sleep through most of my labor. Getting the epidural itself was a little uncomfortable, but so worth it!

It doesn't hurt as much...an epidural can take a lot of the dge off the pain. You are concentrating so much on pushing the baby out that feeing the pain doesn't even enter your mind

My first baby I only had a local anesthesia, had no time for anything else..and it was so fast, thankfully I do not remember pain, only relief.
My second took longer(10) years later(not the delivery, babies were 10 years apart) lol....and of course I had an epidural(maybe two)..can't and don't want to remember(it made me sick, nasuaus.)I do remember I felt like I was not helping to push, was so numb and frustrated at this no feeling thing.Wished I had not done the epidural, but one thing is for sure...no pain, only discomfort and frustration of not feeling myself push..
