i go to st georges in new zealand and we have to do ballroom dancing in year 8 at the end of the year i so do not want to go this guy likes me and he is a geek i don't want to go with him plus everybody says he is going to ask me how can i get out of and plus i can't fake a flu or anything because my mum knows if i fake!

Ok, some people are telling you to lie to this guy. I'd think twice before going to such an extreme. You may think he's a geek, but he is a human being, just like yourself, and deserves some amount of respect. Just be honest with him, and tell him you don't want to go with him. Or try to get someone else to go with before he asks you. Or if worse comes to worse, go with him, and just have the attitude that you're going to have a good time, no matter what! You know, he might actually be a very nice guy under that geekieness! But we don't see him on here putting anyone down, so maybe that's something worth thinking about.

The best thing to do is to pull the boy aside and privately tell him that you're not interested in him. I honestly feel that you should give him a chance even if you do think that he is a geek. Some of the world's best men are geeks! Don't forget that it's not what is on the outside that counts, it's what is on the inside! This boy could be your knight in shining armor! Best of luck!

At any age or in any country...Just let him ask and you return with you answer. Be true to you and honest with him. How will you learn how to turn someone down for the future occasions. And how will he learn to accept no, if you and others lie to him.
Say, "Thank you for the offer, but I have this plan (whatever is true) for the evening." Or you go ask someone else from another grade, class, or school before he asks.
You will let others know how you will treat them, honestly, by your handling of this situation. If you Lie now, your friends and ohters will expect at sometime that you will lie to them and they will in turn lie to you soon, too.
Sounds as if you sometime to think this over.

Just tell the guy that you are pleased that he asked you but you have to turn him down. Just say that you don't want to have a relationship with him but that you can be friends.
As for your mom, just tell her that you don't want to go with the guy. If it's the dance you don't want to go to. Surely she will understand that you aren't interested in going with him.
