There is no "correct" spelling of anything Arabic. When translated, all Arabic words are phonetically spelled out, so when you say "Al-Qaida" or "Al-Qaeda" it sounds the same. If you compare two maps of Iraq that are written with English letters, many of the towns will be spelled differently, but will sound the same when you say them.

These words and names are so foreign to us that we're not sure how they spell them and it isn't just FOX. The media still isn't sure whether it's Vietnam or Viet Nam.
