Leave them alone please. They are carrying their babies on their backs right now and don't need your thoughtful interaction. Please take time to learn about opossums and why they are beneficial. They are very peaceful and non-threatening. If you want them to go away on their own just set up a loud radio on a talk station where they are and they will go away. They are nearly blind and there is no reason to poison them. Call your county wildlife rehabilitaion center for more localized advice. If you risk using poison it is very cruel and may possibly kill other animals that may come in contact with the bait or dead animals like cats, foxes and dogs.

,please don't kill them, go to a local hardware store,or a cattleman's co-op feed store get a small box trap put a little tuna in it,just before night time,by tomorrow you will have him in the trap, now haul him out to the country somewhere open the door and get away 5 min or so,he will be happy to leave, --or just run a power cord out to where they live in the back yard and plug in a small flood light where he is living after 1 or 2 days he will be gone they can't handle light because they are night time creatures naturally, don't worry they only bite if you pick them up,they are very slow movers and not at all aggressive.just poor little animals.

No poison needed. If the babies are a nice size
for mommy to move, walk a friends dog around
on a lease. Let him pee all over the place. Invite
him over to run around after a day or two. They
will get the hint.

Geeeze, where are you located? I know any number of terrier folks would gladly bring their dogs over. You*do* want em dead, right? LOL! I've lost count of how many I've taken so far this year. Dozens, anyway.
Btw,the humane types will NOT help.Nor will DNR.

Why poison them? Just call animal control and they will come and remove the opossums from your yard and relocate them back out into the wild.
