Mainstream rock never dies... It's always in the mainstream! The popular "now" form might change (hair metal, power ballads, altertantive, emo, indie, etc.) but pop rock songs will always exist.

Your answer is in your question: "mainstream." The type of music you're referring to is the commercialized crap that saturates the market because people with no true appreciation for good music are the ones buying it. It has no staying power because it has no real quality.

Because record labels really don't promote artists anymore, they promote singles. So it is hard for new acts to become established ( I think this is true for most types of music now). Besides, the "rock" stations are too busy playing sanitized rap and R&B (at least in my area).

Because of the stupid little underground kids that conciter themselves cool going around calling everyone sellouts and poser making alot of kids not want to buy mainstream music in fear of being a poser.
Its called stupidity and it is ignorant and i hate it.
