Albus Dumbledore's House is uncertain. The only canon evidence given is a comment by Hermione Granger on her first day that "They say Dumbledore himself was in Gryffindor": given that at this stage Hermione was somewhat uninformed (and even passes this information off as hearsay), it is unclear whether we are to trust it as a definite statement of fact. In the movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore stated in Harry's Gryffindor dormitory that, when he was in school, he set fire to the dormitory bed curtains, as he 'never liked' them. Many fans believe Dumbledore to have either been a Ravenclaw, or to have been mis-sorted into Gryffindor: this is based, however, upon fan beliefs regarding the characters of Houses, and cannot be taken as any more certain. Rowling has suggested that Dumbledore may be descended from Godric Gryffindor, but has not confirmed it; furthermore, descent from a Founder has not been conclusively proved to result in all descendants being members of the Founder's House.

I think it was Gryffindor. But maybe he was like Harry Potter too, he would of been good in another house too. A person, especially one that becomes headmaster should of had lots of great qualities.

Accoriding to the HP Lexicon. (the best source to look up canon info):

House: Almost certainly Gryffindor (Hermione tells us, PS6).

geez, i was just watching one of the movies....goblet maybe? he was in the room and told harry, yes goblet, as he looked around the room at the bed hangings and said he always hated those things and started them on fire in his youth, quite by accident of course...its at the end of the movie when he tells harry there are tough times ahead. so i think he was in gryffindor.

My goodness, folks, I like the Harry Potter series, too, but let's not forget this is pure fiction. It's whatever house the author wants it to be.
