In addition to a good diet, try taking a multivitamin as well as a vitamin E supplement. This will actually help with the negative efffects of stress and the vitamins are good for your hair.
If you want to eat healthy, the best bet is to follow the food pyramid. Eat a good balance of starches, meats, dairy, fruit and veggies, and a small amount of fats.

Yes diet can effect your hair and you can lose your hair if you lose weight fast or if your diet is inadequate. Try some mulitvitamins until you can work out a better diet for your self. Also make sure you are having enough iron. Eat a well balanced diet.

Vitamins. Chances are if your hair is suffering so is your skin and your internal organs you might even be anemic.
Get a good multi vitamin that also has iron in it and take one of them each day. Increase your fruits and vegetables and make sure you are getting protein,, either eggs or meat daily.
You should see good results in about 6 weeks, if not go to your DR and get your blood tested for anemia.

I used to have the same problem and my doctor recommended taking a prenatal vitamin. You can get them over-the-counter at your local pharmacy. Also, eggs and fish are good protein sources. Good luck!
