Sociology
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.
Completely (un)disinterested, politically (non)neutral field of social inquiry within which provocative lies about human psychology are/aren't made up to conform to liberal, hyper-egalitarian political agendas. Holds that the mind is a 'tabula rasa' or 'blank slate', and that human psychology is shaped primarily by cultural forces rather than biological influences, because as NBA basketballer and devil-hunter Shaq demonstrated in his seminal lectures on Turtle Morphology, biology is evil.

I'm a psych major taking a sociology course. It's day 2 and it's already a joke. Sure, sociology majors can say that it isn't psychology, that psych studies individuals and sociology studies groups. Those idiots have obviously never taken psychology. The majority of methods for research in psychology studies groups, not the individual. Only by taking out the individual and studying all of the data as a whole can any real pattern be seen that is useful research. So besides that false claim about psychology, sociology still isn't a science. You simply cannot look at how different groups interact and not use psychology. If you take out the why and how people interact and do things, you are left with speculation that falls flat.Social Psychology is a branch of psychology, but any sociology that claims to stand on its own, separate from psychology is junk science.

Sociology is not a "hard" science. By that, I mean that it is not a science that can be proven through facts, say, like biology can. But it does study something, which makes it a science, plus there are lots and lots of theories. Sociology studies groups of people, whereas psychology studies the individual. You will not however get a Bachelor of Science for sociology.

Sociology is a social science that is based on observational research. It can not be proven through facts or empirical evidence but it does tell us a lot about the world we live in today and how it functions. I have a degree in sociology and have found that through studying and conducting research it has changed my way of thinking and my life.

The founding fathers of sociology did thought its a science, and it can be investigated, I mean the social causes of day to day happenings can be investigated and corrected...which I still believe is right. Sociology is a social 'science'

There are hard sciences and social sciences. You can't compare chemistry to sociology. Social sciences and humanities are imprortant ways of learning and knowing.
