It works very quickly for me. I'm using a DSL connection & Windows XP. Make sure that your firewall is turned off or that Limewire is added as an exception. Go to Control Panel, then Network & Internet Connections, then Windows Firewall. Make sure that Limewire is listed on the Exceptions tab.

Do not download Kazaa. It will screw up your computer.
LimeWire should not be slow. Mine is actually very fast. It may just be the speed of your computer.
My friend has AOL and her LimeWire downloads very slow.

my friend uses bearshare.com she says its free all free check it out plus it depends on your connection speed try using your cable to get a faster connection its only like 35.00 extra dollars on your bill each month but its faster it helps get to all the websites and downloads really quick

it shouldnt take too long, but it depends on your connection. are you dsl dial-up cable satilite?
