I want to major in criminal justice to be a detective but someone told me i had to major in criminology? Now I am confused

Criminology concentrates on the theoretical aspects of crime/criminal behavior, while Criminal Justice generally concentrates on the justice system, justice models, laws, regulations, and systems of justice and corrections, etc.
Different educational programs will have different requirements for their majors. Good luck!

Criminal Justice is for the courts and working in the different offices of the courts. Criminology is the science of catching criminals learning behaviors and the many other aspects to detection of crime

Criminology is study of cases-detective work into the minds of why, etc.

Criminal Justice is more like prosecution

do both, trust me.

criminal justice is to be a cop, criminology will help you be a better cop.

criminology is the study of the criminal element. like psychology, but it focuses on criminals.

criminal justice will help you learn the laws and how they are to be carried out.

criminology is the study of crimes. the who, what, when, why and how to make it not happen again,

crimal justice is court based rulings....all the legal talk that is connected to a crime. or so i think
