Sure its dangerous. But so is driving a car and getting up in the morning.
In India 70-80% of the people ride on motorcycles and the accident rate is alot lower than it is in the US. Im of the opinion that riding a bike makes you a better driver over all. You can't use your phone or be distracted by other things. You can only drive and have to use both hands.
Just promise them you'll wear a helmet and you wont do tricks or show off. If you do you'll get hurt and probably bad.
Happy Motoring!

I am an old man now. When I was young, 18, I got my first bike.
I went to work at a steel mill. We had a group of 6 people beside myself who all rode togeather. I am the only one left alive. 5 of the six died on the Motorcycle, One left had a serious accident which left him marred for life. If you still decide to get a bike, become an organ donor so you will do somebody some good.

Haha me too. I've researched alot on here and I'm still sure I want to ride. I want to ride a sport bike just like you. Based on the questions I have asked it is very apparent that I should start off with a Kawasaki Ninja 250, a great beginner bike. If you do decide to ride I recommend the msf riding course. I am going to go through this too. As long as your safe, you should be ok. I can't wait until I start riding =]

Do what you will but man it really hurts when you go down on the pavement. I mean it was the most pain i have ever endured. Think about jumping out of your moms Minne van on to the highway at 40 or 60 miles an hour . it rips your *** from one end to the other. No amount of cool or anything is worth that Pain! Good luck

If you have never road a motorcycle, you should start out small. And most dealerships offer a riding course. And of course be safe. Helmet, and never wear shorts or or sleeveless shirts(if you haven't seen anyone with road rash, it isn't pretty). I never liked my son riding one, but he became a Harley technician. He is 31 and I gave up worrying about him a long time ago. And yes he has had wrecks and he has broken bones.(Wrist twice, and leg broke in two places once.)

You have to adopt a safety first attitude. Always wear gear, leathers, gloves, boots and a full face helmet. If you are not prepared to ride under these conditions, then you will inevitably, be involved in a crash, not necessarily of your own free will, and will suffer the repercussions. Wearing the proper gear will minimize your injuries.

Yes it's very dangerous, nobody has control over what the other drivers on the road are going to do. Chances of surviving an accident are very slim. Insurance rates are very high too.
