The heart.
It has this deep, mellow sound that is so unique. It comforts those who listen to it.

When I hear someone else playing the cello, or the rare time it is used in a song, the way it resonates can either make me smile or bring me to tears. It's like a cello can speak through it's song. It's beautiful. The full body of the instrument allows it to ring so clearly. I think the shape is beautiful too. It's almost like a woman's body with it's curves. When I play, it feels like my whole body is enveloped in the sound, since the way you hold it, it is touching a lot of your body. It is a closeness that does not exist for many other instruments. Perhaps that is why cello players always seem so passionate. Perhaps that passion is what makes the instrument sing so strongly. The cello is clearly to me, the most beautiful instrument (that I know of) in the world.

I might be a little biased because I play the piano and considering how many people have said the piano it's coming from my heart to say the piano again. The reason why I say this is that the piano has every note there is...it is such a versatile instrument. More than one person can play it at a time and to be able to read music for the piano being able to read two clefs at the same time which paves the way for other music reading. I have loved the piano since I was four years old and I heard it...I said "Mommy, I want to do that...and I started lessons the next week." Any instrument played with passion can be the most beautiful in the world however when I'm playing because I'm lonely or sad and I can't cry because if I do I'll never stop and my music becomes my tears...the piano is the most beautiful instrument in the world.

The trumpet...if played well, is very soothing. I love the sound!
By the way...I think a lot of you have missed the point of Ms. Furtado's question...

The cello, hands down. I'm biased because I play it. It's my most precious possession. I was given it from the husband of a cello player who had passed away. It was her practice cello. When I play it I can feel the soul that has been put into the instrument by the woman before me.
When I hear someone else playing the cello, or the rare time it is used in a song, the way it resonates can either make me smile or bring me to tears. It's like a cello can speak through it's song. The piano, which can be categorized as either a keyboard, percussion or stringed instrument, must be the most beautiful sounding instrument in the world. Using three strings for all of its notes except the lower registers which use two, the rich tonal quality of a piano can not be matched by any other instrument. Because of the fact that the vibrations of the strings produce sound not only from themselves, but also resonate the other strings within the piano, causing overtones which are uncommon amongst almost all other musical instruments, the piano, which can be played percussively, tenderly, with anger, or with sweet devotion is the most complex and beautiful instrument in the world.

I love the sound of a mandolin, and I really love the variety of instruments used by Nelly Furtado. There are so many things to do with music to make it exciting. Why do some bands make all their songs sound the same (eg. Nickelback)

The most beautiful sounding instrument in my opinion would be the piano. The piano is the so beautiful because like a human it has many characteristics. It produces so many different sounds. The sounds affect our minds and can affect the way we feel. From making happy and cheerful sounds to sad and powerful sounds. Unlike any other instruments it will always have the same sound like each human has their own voice. But our voices can change pitches and can be used in different styles, the piano does the same thing. Most instruments have the same sound that is portrayed the same even though the sound can get louder or quieter. The pianos sound changes along with the way its played. Its like a separate language and its a language that everyone can understand and portray in different ways. You don't need someone to teach you what the sounds the piano make mean you just know; because it touches my heart, your heart and worlds heart.
