Acadamies are not always subjected to the same regulations as public schools, which I happen to think is a weak point for the academy.
Not ALL students in acadamies are "good" or "better" - they just happen to have wealthier parents.
The public school system needs a lot more work - better pay scales for better teachers. Better continuing education and programs for teachers to learn and have time to administer in their curriculum.
Academy graduates should be subject to the same qaulifying tests as public schools in my opinion.

I am a public school teacher...I went to a private school my entire life.
Even though you do have to pass all these standardized tests...that's not necessarily proving you are better educated than other kids who went to a private school. There are other ways to assess whether a child has successfully aquired the knowledge they needed to or didn't. Standardized testing doesn't necessarily test for all different types of knowledge.
Unfortunately, public schools have a bad rep. Right now, I don't know what will change that.
The best way to prove that you are able to compete with these private school kids is by actually competing with them. Go to college, get grades that are just as good, get an awesome job, further your education. Believe me, what people think of you right now, or at any given point in life, does not matter.
The way you live your life is enough of a statement, you don't need to prove yourself to anyone but yourself.

The reason that private schools get more praise is because a very little amount fail or drop out, actually private schools have a harder curriculum, they are in good neighborhoods, you never here about drug use there(even though there probably is),they have good teachers, their schools are very nice and have the newest equipment, students there usually get good scholarships.Compared to a public school where there are several students that fail and drop out, public schools aren't always the nicest.

No offense...but in the process of trying to prove that you, being from a public school, are equally or more educated than other private taught students, you may want to proof read your post. All the private school students are giving you a standing ovation...take a bow!

Those in the academy have not learnt as much as you. In the long run you will rule, where they will not have the brains to catch on. They have paid there way in $$$$$$$$$$$$ you have paid your way in sweat, and tears and late nights at the books. Be proud of what you did, remember someday, maybe not today, or tomorrow, but someday, they will need to come to you for something that you have. You struggled to get through, and they can never reach that goal. You are the smart one. Good for you. You are already way ahead of them for recognizing what you had to do. Congratulations

Actually the curriculum in private schools are harder. They learn and are tested on what they know in class. You have to take the extra test in public schools because they are more lax on discipline and their is more cheating. You have to take the test to prove you actually know what your supposed to have learned. And as far as being talked down to, I think that's in your head.
