I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX with a V6 engine, automatic transmission, and only 113k miles on it. Recently when I drive it, after it gets warmed up, the RPM's start to go wild, shooting up and down randomly. Also, at speeds above 45mph or so the shifting becomes jumpy: it will shift up to like 5th gear but then shift down sometimes, making it kind of a jumpy ride (as if you're riding with a teenager who just learned how to drive a stick shift). One place said it could be the distributor, another place the transmission, and another place the tachometer. It had a used transmission installed to replace a faulty one 3 years ago, at 85k miles. The check engine light does not come on, and there are no noises when it drives a little rough. I also recently had a transmission flush done on it.

have your car inspected by a qualified technician

the tachometer is just that...a meter. It cannot affect your engine

Wild shifts of gear can be a computer problem that affects the engine/drivetrain.

Have your qualified technician perform an OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) II (i.e. 2nd generation) test. It is a very simple , not very expensive test, that can allow your qualified technician to pinpoint the source of your problem.

BTW: Yes, tests cost $, however most qualifed shops will apply the test fee towards the service needed.

Check your Automatic transmission oil level, it sounds like a transmission problem.

Sounds like the valve body has a problem or the filter is plugged up.
