Some African restaurants have their patrons sit on the floor and eat with their hands. Food is fantastic.

If it is something like peanut shells on the floor of a bar and grill or some steak houses, that's fine, too.

I agree with Kitiany that if it's a place with lots of kids, and there's the occasional floor mess, then that might be a place for me to take my family.

(1) Its a kids-friendly place. I can bring mine.
(2) Japanese style. Everyone sits on a mat on the floor.
(3) It is Jamaican "jerk" barbeque style. Sit around a pit and beautiful jerk chicken, jerk pork or jerk fish on a sheet of old newspaper (on the dirt floor).
(4) Hawaiian luau. Sit around a fire. Pass me a piece of roast pig please.
Eating on the floor is SO primeval. It is the way people started sharing food. Delicious.

depends on what kind of food your talking about. I have been to a few places where they serve peanuts and you throw the shells on the floor. which is fine. If you are talking about a poorly kept resturaunt where there is rotton food all over than NO.

I don't go to a resturant to eat food off the floor, I prefer the food to be on my plate.

Is this a trick question? A riddle? Because if not, then the answer should be self-explanatory.

I have no idea. My knees hurt too much for that trend.
