A way to find the median, is first to determine which number you are looking for, usually the middle number. If it's an odd set of values you take the middle number, if it's an even set you average the two.

There are 6 numbers, which is even
so X=6/2=3
and X'=X+1=4
and calculate the average of the 3rd and 4th numbers.

If the numbers are odd, just do X=(Y+1)/2 and get that number for example:
7 numbers (4,5,7,8,9,10,12), Y=7 and X=4, where the 4 th number is then the median.

The advantage to this method is that you only need to sort the first half of the data set rather than all of the data and on a test that can give you valuable time. So if you know you are looking for the 3 and 4 th largest number, you just need to sort half the data until you find them.

you do no longer heavily anticipate human beings here to do all those homework issues for you, do you??? you could desire to a minimum of coach which you are trying ... do you no longer comprehend what mean, median and mode is? perhaps it is the place you like help, after which you would be waiting to do those form of issues and a lot of greater all on your very own! mean = what maximum folk call "general" --- upload up all the sums of your N variety of things, then divide the total by N to get the mean MEDIAN is yet another variety of standard --- seem at your set of numbers and divide them into 2 halves, a decrease 0.5 and an greater 0.5. The median is the fee at which precisely 0.5 of your set falls decrease than it and 0.5 your set falls above it. MODE is yet another variety of standard --- seem at your set of numbers and word which fee happens maximum many times. it particularly is the mode. this is an occasion -- learn from this then save on with this on your very own homework issues! evaluate the set of numbers a million, 10, 11, 80, 80 The mean is (a million + 10 + 11 + 80 + 80) / 5 = 36.4 The MEDIAN is 11, because of the fact 0.5 your values (a million, 10) are decrease than 11, and 0.5 your values (80, 80) are aove 11. The MODE is 80 --- 80 happens two times interior the record, all the different numbers take place basically as quickly as. desire this permits!

The median of a set of numbers is the value for which half the numbers are larger and half are smaller. If there are two middle numbers, the median is the arithmetic mean of the two middle numbers.

In this case the middle numbers are 7 and 9. So the median is:

(7+9)/2 = 8.

All you have to do is put the numbers in numerical order, which you have and since there is an even amount of numbers in your list, just take the two in the center, 7 and 9 and find the average by adding them together and divide by 2, which is 8.

So, the median is 8.

If it were an odd amount of numbers in your list, you would just count and find the middle number. ex.

7, 16, 25, 30, 36
The median would be 25.

add the middle 2 numbers, 7 and 9, and divide by 2. The median number is always the middle number or numbers. For example, if you have an odd amount of numbers, like {1,2,3,4,5}, the median is 3, because 3 is the middle number. If you have an even amount of numbers, like {1,2,3,4,5,6}, then you take the middle 2 numbers, 3 and 4, add them together (which is 7), and divide that by 2 (which would be 3.5). It's not that hard. Hope this helps!

median is the middlemost element of the list. for example,
5,8,9,10,11,17,19
The median is 10.

if there is an even number of elements, get the average of the two middlemost elements, like in your question:
4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12
The median is (7 + 9)/2 = 16/2 = 8

hope you pass big test!
