Depends on the parent and the child. I would say that parents have usually lived more years than their kids, so the possibility that they may have learned more does exist - whether they have availed themselves of that possibility is another issue altogether.

Yes and no! Only mutured parents with much experience under their belt knows best. They have been there and have done that. What the young people are experiencing today, their parents have already lived this thing. History has a way of repeating itself. Most young people think that their parents are either old fashion or they are out of touch of the happenings of this present time. That is why young people cannot pull the wool over parents eyes or think that what they are up to is in secret. ( maybe for a short period of time ) but as the old saying goes, what is done in the dark will soon come to a great light. Some kids has to find out the hard way because they feel that their parents are either being stupid, being hard to deal with or just need to mind their own business while yet their own business is to warn their children and by trying to protect them from making the same mistakes that they had encountered. There are some parents that grows older everyday and they haven't learned any wisdom yet, they perfer to stay at a certain level of muturity. So how can a child teach a child? These are the parents that don't know best. Some children grows up and go clean pass the level of muturity that their parents should have developed over the years. These are the kids that has to switch roles with their parents as if to train their parents. This is sad but true. If your parents seem to be positive most of the time then listen to your parents and most of all if you are still a child then honour and obey your parents. One day you will be glad that you did!

MOST parents do. I say this as a parent I have been where the kid is at. As they say, been there done that. Where the parent may not know the best is the one that is drunk, on drugs, or just too young to be a parent. So they are either drunk and can't make good sound decisions, or high and then they are not in there right mind frame or they are still learning.

Experience counts. Parents can't always communicate their concerns effectively to their kids and so they sometimes resort to saying, "Because I said so!" I always swore I would never say that to my kids and I did a pretty good job of keeping that vow... but a couple of times, I have to admit I said it.

Anyway, the point is, even if you don't understand why your parents won't let you do something, there's almost ALWAYS a good reason, whether they can explain it to you or not.

A suggestion: if you demonstrate some trust in your parents' judgement, they will develop trust in your judgement too.

depends upon the particular parent & child. If the parents are very close to their child, know and understand their child, then you cna depend on them to know what to do best. There are other parent who do things simply becos its what they wouuld want. I disagree, the child is the issue here. whatever is done should be for the good of the child not the parent.

No. Some parents are complete morons. Parents need to learn how to be GOOD parents. I am constantly reading up on how to be a better mom, and my kids rock!

Yeah, but most kids don't realize it until they are about 32, some earlier when then have children of their own they usually realize mom and pop weren't as dumb as they thought they were when they were young.
