Have people called you Libby all of your life? Is this name just something you woke up one day and said, "Hey, I want everyone to call me Libby!" Usually nicknames are given by someone's friends, or acquired because of some incident in their history.
Why would a dude want to be called Libby? I think I hate it too, (really) it sounds like a girl's nickname. Are you bi-sexual? Or transgender? If that's what you want to do, that's something you are going to have to live with, and if your friends do not want to call you by certain names, and go along with your choices then that is another aspect that may be unpleasant in regards to your personal choices about your life. Maybe she doesn't want you to be called "Libby" because it sounds peculiar to her, and she just doesn't like it. On here it says your name is Richard, and I am just wondering why you don't go for something like Ricky, or Rich? Does your real name sound like Libby?
Why would a dude wake up one morning and tell everyone to start calling him Libby?
I guess I am confused. Whatever, good luck...Sometimes you can't make people change what they have called you by just telling them to call you something different, like I said most nicknames are given when a person is young, or because they pick up a pet name as they are growing up. If she is that set against your choice of names, then maybe you need to be glad that she calls you by ANY name. If it's that big of an issue, then why not just quit hanging around her until she calls you the name you like (I have to tell you it sounds like a real stupid reason to lose friends).

First of all, people don't choose a nickname for themselves. It's usually given to us by friends, family, etc. And to stop talking over something as small as this, is absolutely ridiculous. Let your friend decide what she wants to call you.

Sounds to me like neither of you are respecting eachother in this situation.
She won't call you what you want, and your upset with her for feeling like she doesn't want to.... your both upset over a name?
Is your choice of name more important to you than your friend? Let others call you Libby and let this friend call you what they want....

Well bud, Libby is kind of...how do I put this politely?...cheesy. Tell her to call you what she wants but don't call you late for dinner.

Can't believe you guys would stop talking because of something so stupid? How old are you guys? And why would you risk your friendship over a nickname?
