Like others have said- Practice Practice Practice!
There are a number of on-line text-based games I play. And the syntax for some of the commands can be very picky. Now- speed is not my forte, usually. But after playing those, while I won't set any speed records, I'm not too bad either.
Good luck!

Concentrate on accuracy. Speed will come naturally just like age, even though you do not want it. Do not be distracted by trying to have better speed, because nobody will want a piece that have many errors, even though you typed it out at a record speed.
Also, I found having to backspace of delete makes typing even slower. Hope this helps.

Just practice typing when youre at home typing yahoo answers, emails, or anything. I am pretty fast at typing when I want to be and also reasonably accurate. I didnt fomally learn how to do it where you use all fingers for certain keys etc. I just started typing and I wanted to do it fast so I kept trying it as fast as i could every time.
But if you formally want to learn it then just look it up on google.

get one of those "typing tutor" computer programs and do the reviews over and over again. they are very cheap (around $10).
