A lot of "Japanese restaurants" are actually korean, so it could really be a huge number of things. But the most common sauce used in asian cooking of any kind is soy sauce.

Can you describe the rice a bit more? Rice and egg with yum yum sauce doesn't really tell us what you're looking for... I've never heard of yum yum sauce. The closest thing I can think of is called Oyako Donburi- but that has chicken in it as well.

The bright shiny brown stuff? That is oyster sauce. Only an idiot or a total novice would think it is soy sauce.

It is more commonly known as soy sauce but in Hawaii and Japan it is called shoyu.

It could be soy sauce..teriyaki sauce or ponzu sauce...soy is salty..teriyaki is sweet and thick...ponzu is light with sesame seeds & vinigar
