How do you eliminate programs from automatically starting on startup of your computer?

Go to
Start --> Run --> type in MSCONFIG --> go to the last tab (called Startup), --> Uncheck all the boxes of programs you no longer want to start at startup. --> Click ok and restart your PC.

*This method will stop any non-malware programs from starting when you boot the PC, though if the program is malware, you will need to get an antivirus and antispyware program.

Bingo..that's exactly how you do it. BUT! You will also need to open each of the programs that was starting automatically and enter the options menu for that program and click, uncheck the box that tells it to start automatically. Otherwise next time you start your computer they will all magically be back!!! UGH!

depends on the programs, there are three places where startup program can load.
1. go to run-msconfig-startup and uncheck anything you don't want to start

2. go to start all programs startup and delete what you don't want to start

3. the other place is in the registry, open regedit and click on edit-find-run and delete any entry in there you don't want to start, good idea to back up the registry before you do this
