I don't think that it is so much that we don't trust people, we just tend to be a better judge of character / or have like a sixth sense for stuff like that.
Just our nature to question everything.

No, not all Aries are like that.
Also if you're going by horiscope myths then technically there is other factors, for example what element are you, what time were you born (down to the minet), what's your name, were you born near the beggining of the aries time of the month, near the end, or near the middle (some think if you're close to another sign in terms of when you were born then you'll take traits of both).

I'm an Aries. I make people earn my trust, but I give a little and watch them from a distance. Most people don't seem to notice that I don't trust them.

Accually, Aries is a very trusting sign, but also ulta-competative. If you have trust problems, run your chart and look for SCORPIO or if you just generally are a loner or dislike most people when you meet them- VIRGO influances. Scorpios have a lot of trust problems, generally as a sign, and Virgos hate other's weaknesses and are natural loners. Perhaps it's just that you are very competative and don't want other people stealing your limelight and that is why it appears to others that you are stand-offish with other folks. ;P

I don't remember ever seeing that trait of an Aries. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time!
I do know that Aries common personality traits are: Creative, open-hearted, high-spirited, pioneering, vain, feisty, active, impatient, sincere, honest, energetic, enterprising, optimistic, open to change, idealistic, impulsive, and domineering. Your most likable trait is courage.
I know you didn't ask for all that, but you got me on a roll, sorry!
