If you are a lover of those era's then you should try "Heart" without a doubt! Ann and Nancy Wilson where/still are the greatest female rockers to me.

Some say Stevie Nicks was the greatest.

The Supremes (Diana Ross)

Donna Summer (Disco Queen)

Gladys Knight (with or without the PIPS) is my favorite 60's

Roberta Flack 60's

Carole King

Karle Simon

Dolly Parton (country, but strong)

Try some of everything that everyone has mentioned. They are all great girl bands.

Good suggestions from everyone!

Carole King was an excellent song writer, beginning at age 15. Carlye Simon was very good, as well as Stevie Nicks (with or without Fleetwood Mac). And who could forget Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Donna Summer (yes, disco), Roberta Flack. The 60's and 70's gave us quite a bit of talent.

Many of those women who file for divorce do so because their men have not been faithful to their vows, especially the one (keep yourself unto each other) Up to a third of divorces are suggested to be for this reason though I suggest the figure is higher as it is not necessary to cite the infidelity in order to obtain the divorce and no doubt many like myself did not see any reason to air this in pubic. Others leave because of mental and physical abuse, addiction problems, serious disagreements about child rearing, religious differences and numerous other reasons many are legitimate reasons to seek an end to the relationship. However you are right that in many cases, such as your own there is no such cause. Expectations in marriage have never been higher for women and the work required to sustain a marriage through difficulties requires serious commitment and good communication skills from both parties. Often by the time the husband realises there is a problem the wife has already decided to walk away. Try not to let the bitterness you feel after this breakup affect future relationships and your attitude to women and with luck you will like me find another partner who will give the same commitment as you to any future relationship.
