7% is great. During the past decade and a half of relatively low inflation, raises have been in the 4% range. 7% is out of this world. Take it before your boss changes your mind.

Regular raises are in essence pegged to inflation rate and labor productivity. More often than not, raises are close to the inflation rate + 1% or so. Business can afford to pay raises more than the inflation rate because of the productivity growth component.

So, at 7% you scored.

Settle for 7%. Most places aren't giving that much.

Take it. I know a lot of people and a 3% raise seems to be about as good as it gets.
