Don't be hard on the United States. I think I have the answer to that and it isn't about anything more than simple survival.

It doesn't matter where the U.S. looks or how hard it is to find him. Osama Bin Laden knows that he is dead meat anywhere in the world that he goes. And he knows how powerful he is and how much weight he pulls with as many people as he has looking for him. He knows that his whole movement will be dead if he gets dead. And he knows that it isn't a matter of "if we find Osamma" but "WHEN we find Osamma".

He knows that too many insurgents are depending on him and he knows where they are, how many of them there are and he knows that they are all so stupid and lack so much skill at organization that if he gets dead, the whole Middle East falls into the hands of the United Nations and all the mullahs and all the emirs and all the sheiks are rendered powerless when that happens.

It doesn't matter when we find Osamma if we ever do. He is dead eventually and powerless after that.

I think it is because W likes to keep us off our feet by scaring us with terrorism, for example "Osama bin-Laden this Osama bin-Laden that" -as long as the guy is still alive it gives the President excuses for doing things. Like starting a war with Iraq, and staying there, even after no weapons of mass destruction were found and Saddam Hussein is captured. With bin-Laden still alive, the President pretty much gets what he wants regarding high military budgets, espionage, tapping phones in America and spending on more military stuff. Why are there 130,000 troops in Iraq and only 15,000 in or near the Pakistan/Afghanistan border looking for bin-Laden? Shouldn't it be the other way around? With 100,000 troops looking for him near the Pak/Afghan border, bin-Laden would be found in about 5 minutes. Bush used bin-Laden as an excuse to attack Iraq, and now that we have troops in Iraq, it is only a few hours drive and a few minutes my fighter planes to Iran, where there is another enemy and lots of oil.

He's probably traveling in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan. These areas are not really under the control of either country. They are ruled by warlords who have no allegiance to anyone but themselves. He probably stays in Pakistan more, because the US has a green light to go after him in Afghanistan. Even though President Musharraf is an American ally, he does not have a very firm grip on things - remember a couple of assassination attempts on him a few years back? He can't afford to let the US come in and freely operate - the fallout in his country would be far too great for him to risk it.

Does it really matter - Osama Bin Laden will never have chance at being leader because he can never show himself in public ever again.

Because he's hiding out in the Tooele Desert in Utah which looks identical to Afghanistan and other desert countries. When he's not filming his egomaniacal doomsday prophecies and threats, he cross dresses as an arab princess and writes articles for the salt lake tribune. If you think I'm joking, try checking out the trib where this broad who looks just like osama minus beard writes her stuff.

They need him alive so the Republican party can keep the white house and congress for two more terms. This is called governing with fear. Vienam war was 10 years, Iraq could be 16 years.

Parvez Mushariff is a US puppet who does not have the support of his people. He restricts access to the area where OBL is hiding so we won't kill him. He knows that if we or Pakastani forces kill OBL that there will be a revolution in Pak. He will be thrown out, maybe killed gruesomely, and the democracy will be replaced with a fundamentalist theocracy.

Has anyone considered he's not in Afghanistan. Why the hell would he go to Afghanistan, that would be the absolute last place I'd be. That's like robbing a bank without a mask on then going back to your house.
