a 5 yr old girl (like in "my wife and kids" has had to play scenes where she refers to sex as a "roller coaster". Does she know what she's talking about? Would her parents permit her to talk trash in a movie that is PG 13, when at home she can only watch Barney? I'm confused!

You'd be surprised.

Children these days know more than we think we do. I had a five year old explain to me why the moon has effects on the tides, and the fact was, he could demonstrate it with simple diagrams better than my teachers could.

He understood it.

Children understand sex if the parent's talk to them about sex. It's not a big deal at all.

Does a twenty-one year old actor have to kill someone to play a murderer? She understands what a roller coaster is and that's what she's talking about. The context will provide the meaning for the audience.

I'm sure she just spouts back her line as she's rehearsed it, and has no idea what a roller coaster is in reference to. She shot her isolated scene, and left the set.

A five year old shouldn't have to "cope" with anything for ANY reason!!! That's why God made parents. (For Pete's sake, a five year old is only three years out of diapers!)

Any parent who subjects their child to that is guilty of child abuse (at least neglect) and should be charged with that crime!!

It's not fair to expect someone who's only been on this earth for five years to deal with things that those of us who've been here for more than 20 years can't even keep a handle on! : (

I'm sure her parents would allow it, because it's all about money...and she won't know what she's talking about...

Unfortunately, she WILL remember it, and figure it out...
