Three years ago the first 36 of 500 mustard gas shells found in Iraq were discovered buried in the desert in the Shiite South of Iraq. They were left over from the 1991 Persian Gulf War and were decayed to the point of uselessness, part of some missing chemical weapons Hussein was never able to account for.

Flash forward three years. Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is losing in the race for his Senate seat to Democrat Bob Casey Jr by double-digits. He announces to the world with Senator Hoefstra of Michigan that recently declassified documents show WMD were found in a bid to drum up support for a faltering campaign, in hopes that the followers back home will see the headline and look no further into the article. Fox News and the Bush-Supporting blogs immediately leap into action.

The rest of the media ignores it for the stunt it is (for a change). This will all blow over in a few days.

Anyone reading & paying attention has known that they had found weapons. My son is an officer in military so I knew they had found some. The declassification of National Security papers are the first time I heard it was over 500 checmical bombs & other weapons of mass destruction. Some people must feel pretty foolish now with their talk of there not being
any weapons. If I was an adult of 50, I would say Nay, nay, nay!

I am not surprised that we finally found them. I was on a team in Iraq (see www.eternitysedge.net) that searched for them and at times found a round here and there of Sarin and/or Mustard. We also found a two ton container of Sarin Gas precursor @ the Muthana (sp?) Chemical Weapons facility near Samara. Additionally, the bunkers at the same facility that were sealed by the UN in the first war were now completely empty. They had to have gone somewhere. The question I have is...why the hell were they left by the U.N. in the first place?!?

I am not glad that we found them, I alway knew they were hiding something. I am glad that Saddam is no longer President. Perhaps in time the people in Iraq can begin living normal lives without the fear of such a repressive leader. May God bless them.

None have ever been found.
It was just a pretext, a LIE, from George Bush and the neocons to do what they'd already decided to do.

Everyone in government knew they were there all the
time, but couldn't find them so couldn't prove it, and
therefore the liberals accused them of lying about them.
They had plenty of time to hide them or move them to
Syria before anyone started to hunt for them.
