I believe satistics showed at one time for this to be true,, but I am not sure how old the survey is,,, and I did hear that insurance is higher..??
I guess it is considered to be a "sports" car color???

I would think because of the color it shows up more , and it isn't camoflauged as well, an the police can see when you don't stop at that stop sign or run a redlight.

Yes. My sociology teacher told my class that if two vehicles where driving down the road at the same time and speeding that the red car is the one to get pulled over even if the other car is actually going a little faster. The color red send off a fast paced look to the eyes. That's why McDonald's uses red and yellow as their colors to get people in and out fast. Certain colors set off emotions for people subconsciously.

I have heard of that as well. They say the reason why red cars are pulled over more often is because it stands out against other cars.

Technically it is the case as others have mentioned there are more red cars lately AND most red cars are "sporty" and have drivers who have the tendency to speed.

It does cost more insurance to drive a red car and this trend will continue until Insurance companies find another way to increase premiums for people :P

Oh and red is also one of the most visible colors to the eye. So when a police car is watching the highway he will notice the red car before black, silver or green.

Well yes, red civics and red protoge's, but not red lincoln town cars. It's just that red usually evokes youth and vitality, which usually means speeding. It's a natural fact that of the cars pulled over for speeding, many are red, yellow, and vibrant blue simply because the people who choose those colours tend to speed. However, it doesn't mean that cops see a red car and pull it over for no reason.

Yes, they have higher insurance too! The cars insurance becomes higher based on the style of car, sedan or sport and the color...white vs. red yellow or black. That might be why they get pulled over more!

Well... You'll have to compare statistics. Last year, red was the most popular color of car sold. Naturally, if there are more red cars out there, more are going to get pulled over.

my best friend is a cop in my home town,,and even he will admit he does pull over red car,s more often,he said that the reason was,you pay closer attention to them because of the color,,,also if you watch one long enough you will see them violate some kind of law,and as for all the other myth,s,,i dont know,,but even i look at a red car more when i see it go down the road,,and i bet you do to,,right,it,s one of those things that happens.

statistics show that red and yellow cars are pulled over more often. That is why insurance is higher on them, because it is more likely that a driver who buys either color prefers a sportier looking car and has a lead foot :) meaning they like to hit the throttle.

No. I have had my red car for over 2 years now (before that I had a green truck and a blue car, and also drove my parents blue van for a while).

Here is the breakdown:

Never been pulled over in my red car. for anything.

Pulled over twice in my green truck, once speeding, once running a red light.
