So that's how big a double bed is. Just for comparison, a queen size bed is about 80 by 60 so roughly 6 inches longer and 7 inches wider so not too much of a big difference but for some people, it's just enough to feel like they have plenty of room.

The queen size is bigger but as your in a small room a double might be more suitable as to room size and if the double is still to big then a king size single will be best as longer as well as wider..than a std single bed list of dimensions beds in Australia which will be same as for N.Z. also

Double is the same size as a full size bed. Nearly twice the size of a twin, slightly smaller than a queen.

A good size for just me (5'3", 115 lbs) and 3 cats, or me and the doberman. Too small if it's me and the 6'2" 190 lb boyfriend.

It is five feet wide usually...but nowadays they come in six feet width also...
