The swimmer with the MOST Olympic medals is Jenny Thompson of the USA with 12.

In an incredible Olympic career beginning in 1992, Jenny has won eight golds, three silvers and a bronze. Until the recent Games in Athens, the record stood at eight medals, an achievement shared by Dawn Fraser (Australia), Kornelia Ender (GDR), and Shirley Babashoff (USA).

On the men's side, both Mark Spitz & (USA) Matt Biondi (USA) each won 11 medals in Olympic competition.
