WHAT IS WRONG?? only answer if yu know what you're talking about, please. the vet didn't tell us anything.

once again, the vet WAS certified. we went to a clinic in a chicago suburb, the vet TOLD us the risks of anesthesia, she also told us that it was the ONLY way to do it or it would be too hard to trim his grossly overgrown molars.
also we called the vet again today, she said to soften his food?

Very few piggies survive anesthesia, especially at that age. The vet was not certified or they would have told you giving a piggie anesthesia was very dangerious. A piggie has to have timothy hay every day for digestion and to keep its teeth trimmed. It sounds like the piggie is in shock.

When a piggie won't eat some times they have to be given Valium, but that's no guarantee.

You need to get some nutrical from the vet and hand feed him. they can load feeding syringes for you. That's the only chance he may have.

Your pig probably has sore teeth, I'd give a call to the vet, and try slowly hand feeding the little guy. He also maybe lonley so these hours may be critical. Try comforting him, and hand feed him. He'll probably refuse but keep trying. My two girls went through something like this. Go to these two websites,

Dous your pig have 24 hour accsess to high quality hay and pellets? Lack of hay may be why his teeth are overgrown.

I really hop this helps!

I had a Guinea pig for 10 years, although I didn't have that problem.

I'd guess his teeth are sore (mine would be!). Check his teeth and gums and see if they're bleeding, or he reacts stongly from you poking around. Let your vet know that if they are.

Try some softer foods until he feels better (tomatoes were one of mine's favorites), instead of the pellets.

He could also still be a little groggy from the drugs.

When he gets well, be sure to keep a stick of untreated wood for him to chew on in the cage, and give plenty of hard fruits and vegetables (Carrots, apples, etc.) to keep the teeth short.

I hate to be a "party pooper", yet all of those people asserting sure are incorrect!!... The little strings interior the celery could be pulled off by making use of the guinea pig and then they could replace right into a choking danger. even however, in case you narrow back the little strings off, then feed your piggy, then each and every thing would be nice. Celery is likewise the saltiest veggie. Guinea pigs like it!

his teeth hurt when he tries to eat, you would not want to eat either if they had just "ground down" your teeth!
