ok, considering the fact that the only reason why the war "started" was because of osama bin laden, who ya know, lives in afghanistan which is a SEPERATE country from iraq. Also about muslims, they can have whatever religion they want wether it is extreme or not and i can't see a religion getting more extreme than christianity. We have plenty of christian extremists worldwide, a lot more than muslims if i can image, and they actually have the money to PURCHASE guns hah...put 1 and 2 together...

It's widely agreed the middle east is where Armageddon will start. Iraq is in the middle east. At the very least, democratizing (destroying radical muslims) Iraq will delay Armageddon by a couple decades.

Has everyone here forgot 9/11?

The main reasons that I feel we are there for:

1. Terrorists (want another 9/11 anyone....?)
2. Just to restore order and to help the people over there, some of the women over there are in a better situation now, and when we win they will all be in a better situation.
3. Oil... maybe.

God only knows for sure, but I can explain the official rationale if that's what you are looking for.

Iraq is a key country because of issues like terrorism and the threat it used to pose because of it's chemical weapons and it's attempts to create nuclear and biological weapons. The middle east is a "hot spot" in this world from which all kinds of evil plots seem to come forth.

If the U.S. can establish a friendly and stable regime in that country we can put one more country on the relatively "safe" side of the ledger as well as use it for a base of operations and information gathering.

Iraq has the highest amount of terrorism, probably because of the muslim extremists. The U.S. needs to respond, so yes they are doing it for security.
