Babe Ruth did it on Beer and Hot Dogs. Bonds did it on Steroids. Do you think it should count?

I'm not a sports guy, BTW. But don't they play even more games a season now than they did in Ruth's time. That would make it easier wouldn't it?

He may not have been tested positive for steriods, but, in case you didn't know, human growth hormone (HGH - the latest hot button issue) is not detectable through a urine test. The man seriously bulked up in the offseason, which is not natural, and not too long afterwards was having knee problems. That's a sign that the muscle mass was too much for the ligaments, surely he was on something.

Bonds was at 492 before the 2001 season, when his career high jumped from 49 to 73. He was averaging nearly 33 per year at that point. If he would have stayed on that pace, he would be hitting nearly 690 by the end of this season, and he wouldn't have missed most of last season because his muscle mass wouldn't have destroyed his knees.

Yeah, he could've come real close to Aaron. At the very least, he probably would have passed Ruth by the middle of next season because he would be healthy enough to do it.

Bonds never tested positive for steroids, so he has done it without steroids.
And yes they did play 8 last games in Ruth days, put there were no rules on the distance of the fences, and the fences were a lot shorter in Ruth's days then now.

He might have been able to do it on his own...but that is the reason the question even exists...he was on performance enhancing drugs, and the possibility that they improved his abilities is really high, so that is why he should have his career question and reputation put on the line. Babe Ruth was on hot dogs and beer...last I checked both of those are performace erasing, so he might have done even better.

Well I don't know if he even did roids. And no one really knows but him. Yeah he voiced the issue but my thing is if baseball is going after him, they should go after EVERYONE who has ever been mentioned in the same sentence as steroids.

For the sake of his career he hit all those homers without that kind of help. I'm no expert, just giving my 2 cents.

I don't think his or mcgwire's or sosa's "records" should count. Bonds probably would have hit about 500 homers and been a hall of famer wihtout steroids. Now he probably won't make the hall even if he hits 800. He shouldn't either.

He might have been able to do it on his own but to me thats not the point. The point is that he cheated in baseball.I think it shows a lot of disrespect to the game to cheat and then threaten/break the records of some of the best all around players to ever play.
